Experience of Czech Republic in energy efficiency

On November 26, 2015, the first seminar within framework of the Project "Building Capacities for Energy Sector Reform in Ukraine" was conducted. The Project has been implemented by the Centre for Global Studies “Strategy XXI” (Ukraine) in cooperation with Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association under the financial support of: SlovakAid and Visegrad Fund.

During the seminar, the representatives from Ukrainian government institutions gained information on Czech experience in the field of energy efficiency. The experience was presented by Lukáš Lehotský from the Department of International Relations and European Studies of the Masaryk University in Brno.

The seminar was opened by the president of the Centre for Global Studies “Strategy XXI” Mykhailo Gonchar who presented to the audience the very idea of the project as well as the structure and the content of the seminar and introduced the speaker from the Czech Republic.

Lukáš Lehotský presented several topics in his report:

- development of Chech policy in the field of energy efficiency;

- experience in utilization of financial and non-financial support for energy efficiency – what is behind the successful energy efficiency projects in the Chech Republic?

 - Chech experience in engaging business into energy efficiency projects;

- technical and technological experience of Check Republic in energy efficiency / presentation of the successful projects;

- information and awareness raising campaigns to promote energy efficiency – role of the state and local authorities.

Ukrainian representatives of governmental institutions shared their own experience, asked questions and commented on possibilities to utilize Czech experience in national projects.

Intensive discussion has continued during coffee breaks, the audience expressed interest to practical projects, realized under participation of the expert, asked about problems and challenges, faced by Czech Republic during energy efficiency project implementation.
