On Monday, June 19, 2017, the group visited Building Testing and Research Institute – TSUS, a leading Slovak non-state institution, dealing with energy certification of buildings and materials. TSUS Director, prof. Zuzanna Sternova presented main legislative, technical requirements to construction materials, explained categorization of building and their certification.
The group also visited testing laboratory of the TSUS, where engineers explained about procedures of chemical and mechanical tests on thermal insulating materials and their characteristics. The participants had the possibility to visit a pilot project of comprehensive reconstruction in one of apartment buildings in Bratislava Devinska Nova Ves — a concrete project, where TSUS experience has been implemented.
The second part of the day was devoted to the visit to Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency – SIEA. Artur Bobovnicky, Director of the Innovation and International Cooperation Directorate, presented information about the histiry and mission of the Agency. Among others, the Agency is responsible for realization of educational and scientific programmes, monitoring and evaluation of energy consumption. Very important part of work in the Agency is devoted to research and introduction of innovations. Moreover, SIEA is responsible for utilization of funds, provided by European and international organizations for energy efficiency and energy saving measures in public sector.
A pilot project was presented to the group in Rišňovce, Buildings of the Municipal Office and House for Culture, reconstructed though funding from one of the SIEA programmes. Ukrainians could receive information about both technical and financial aspects by project implementation.
