"On the one hand, we ask the West not only to continue, but also to increase sanctions, so that Russia will change its behavior, take any steps for a peaceful settlement of the situation and the liberation of Ukrainian citizens, but, on the other hand, they themselves are very slowly demonstrating the ability to resist an aggressor inside [... ] The weakness of Ukraine's weak sanctions policy with regard to the Russian Federation actually helps many Russian oligarchs earn in Ukraine, and then these funds are aimed at strengthening the Putin regime," said Anna Hopko, Member of Parliament (non-factional), Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs.
"Coordination or, rather, synchronization of actions of the Ukrainian side with the actions of [international partners] is not even a matter of today, it's a matter of the day before yesterday [...] When we appeal to our foreign partners to increase sanctions, we should not simply synchronize actions with them, but to be in the avant-garde, "- said the president of the Center for Global Studies Strategy XXI Mykhailo Gonchar. He recalled the importance of sanctions as an instrument of pressure on Russia, including for the release of Ukrainian political prisoners, and also called for the creation of Ukraine's own version of "Magnitsky list", which would include individuals involved in repressions of Ukrainian citizens or those who became collaborators , as well as those who contributed to the illegal elections in the occupied territories.
Deputies propose to submit a bill to parliament for consideration, along with a number of other bills to confront Russian aggression, in particular No. 2509 - on the participation of foreign persons in the subjects of natural monopolies; draft resolution number 2624 - on inventory of property located on the territory of Ukraine, owned by the Russian Federation and its residents, a bill on cooperation and the abolition of the free economic zone "Crimea".
