Ukraine is an obstacle to Tramp's ambitions to reach a deal with Russia

The main event of the G20 Summit in Hamburg was the first meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump. Could it be hoped that after this contact behind closed doors Russia received a tight signal from Washington because of Moscow's aggression against Ukraine? This isssue was discussed in the Radio Donbass.Realities studio with the president of the Centre for Global Studies "Strategy XXI" Mykhailo Gonchar and American political scientist Sergiy Kudelia.

- Do you expect any results from this meeting for Ukraine?

Mykhailo Gonchar: I do not expect breakthroughs for several reasons. First, the meeting between Trump and Putin did not take place earlier, although it was planned. And Russia reconed upon it. Second, Trump is the president of the country, where the countervailing system works. And American foreign policy agenda is formed not by the current president. And the recent Senate bill on strengthening sanctions against Russia is a confirmation of this. Trump did not want it, but it happened.
