20 February. Escalation in Ukraine: que prodest

Yanukovych regime has turned Ukraine into the zone of "three "C": cleptocracy - corruption – criminals for four years. The ruling camarilla is rapidly transforming the country into a "black hole" of Europe, creating the most serious challenges to European security since the Balkan War of 90th. But Yanukovych regime itself would not be able to do this if he had no external support from the so-called "managed democracy" of neighboring Russia, covered with syndrome of revanchism on the former Soviet Union space.

It is Putin's Russia policy that has prescriptive mode to the ruling regime in Kiev. Now Russia tied Yanukovych to itself by blood and money and led him out from the ranks of the civilized world leaders.

  1. Hiding behind the false thesis of "pragmatic dialogue", "security space from Vancouver to Vladivostok ", "Eurasian free trade zone that would unite the EU and the CIS ", which delight the ear of Brussels bureaucracy, Russia actually realizes exclusively neo-imperial project. It thinks and acts by categories of nineteenth century. Prolonged close eye of Europe on the actions of the former Soviet Union only inflames appetites of geopolitical revanchists in the Kremlin, which focuses on a new division of the continent to build a neo-Soviet empire in the Eurasian Union.

  2. The threat to the European security is of binary nature. On the one hand, this is the actions of the dictatorial regime in Kiev that at the cost of bloodshed and the destruction of democracy wants to keep the C-C-C area. On the other hand, this is a neo-imperial revenge of Kremlin project aimed at the destruction of an area of democracy and freedom in Europe and the expansion of C-C-C. In fact, the Ukrainians at the barricades on Maidan oppose a united front of Eurasian revanchism, cleptocracy, corruption and crime under the auspices of the Kremlin.

  3. The financial noose under a pretense of so-called 15-billion help together with the gas trap aredirected to prevent Ukraine from gaining energy and economic independence. Once the world's leading companies came in Ukraine with large-scale natural gas extraction projects both on land and in the Black Sea, which could change the energy map of Europe and rid the traditional suppliers in the East its monopoly status, Russia has decided to conduct "quiet war" against Ukraine. Now this war has transformed into a hot оne. Its motives are described in our analysis of January 24, "Bloody flows in Europe". http://geostrategy.org.ua/ua/component/k2/item/276-ekspres-analiz-potochnoyi-situatsiyi-v-ukrayini-ta-navkolo-#6-24-sichnya-2014-roku&Itemid=146

  4. What can Europe do, if it is still able to adequately assess the situation and to think strategically? Russia believes that its role as a trading partner of the EU is indispensable, especially concerning energy: gas, oil and coal. The EU has an opportunity to show Russia that in fact it is not so essential, moreover, that Russia is more than on 50% dependent on the EU market in its foreign trade. The EU money is used by Moscow for the transformation of the post-Soviet space to Kremlin’s inhumane, undemocratic Eurasian project. The EU has the possibility (but whether it has the political will?) to demonstrate to Russia that it can reduce imports of Russian energy resources. The EU (but only because of the United States) has demonstrated to the Iranian regime of Ahmadinejad that it can function without its oil. The EU does not hurt. But in Iran is now another president who demonstrates good will and not in order to please someone, but for their own people. Now Europe and the U.S. have to do the same steps against the Kremlin regime. It must be forced to the civilized norms of behavior. If it will be not done now, Europe can pay for a very high price and not in the distant future, but in the coming months. Georgia in 2008, Ukraine in 2014 should be the lessons learned for Europe. The EU should conclude on the need for a policy of containment against Russia.

  5. If you will leave everything as it is, putting the blame only on the Yanukovych regime, it will only ignite appetites of Moscow. It will then act against others. Moldova and Georgia are very vulnerable. Weak EU countries, such as Bulgaria and the Balkans will be the next object of attention of the Kremlin. Baltic States will feel increased pressure. In the new European Parliament and the European Commission will appear influential "Russian" factions, powered by corruption flows from the Kremlin through the Swiss canton of Zug, British Virgin Islands, and more.

Practically, the escalation of violence on February 20 is not so much the implementation plan of the regime to retain power in Ukraine, as the scenario of Russian, which special services govern in fact the actions of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. We cannot exclude attacks that can be carried out by the Ukrainian Special Forces and commandos, sent to Ukraine from Russia.

The escalation of violence in Kyiv meets Moscow’s intent to separate the Crimea region. Destabilized plutocratic regime in Kiev is occupied with own survival, it is unable to take effective measures to preserve integrity of the country. Therefore, intensification of separatist actions in the Crimea will take place in the coming days, which already next week could case intervention of Russia under the pretext of "defending compatriots".

In order to stop violence in Ukraine, the EU and the USA must not only introduce belated personal sanctions against Yanukovych regime, but also severely constrain Russia by warning Putin about the risk of a significant decrease in imports of Russian energy resources to the EU (See: http://www.kyivpost.com/opinion/op-ed/mykola-honchar-a-response-impossible-to-ignore-334807.html Or http://ukraine-nachrichten.de/eu-russland-handeln-gefragt_3849_meinungen-analysen)
