The Prime minister of Ukraine officially recognized that the energy sector situation is difficult and went to citizens with an appeal to consider restrictive measures as necessary.

Meantime Ukrtransgas and Gaz-System S.A. signed a cooperation agreement, which according to Andriy Kobolev, CEO NAK Naftogaz of Ukraine, would become a cornerstone for creation of the Eastern European gas hub and improve stability of GTS functioning in Eastern Europe.

Ukrainian Interbank Currency Exchange has demonstrated a concept of hub gas trading with an option to start the work since 2015.

Sergey Yermilov explained in details that Ukrainian power stations could work with many sorts of coal, and current crisis is a result of oligarchic frauds with the support of politicians. The coal industry, according to him, could become self-reliant a decade ago, if proposed reforms would be implemented.

Mr. Yermilov considers that only creation of a functioning coal exchange will help to overcome shortages. The same scenario he would support for gas exchange. NAK should become bankrupt, debts restructured and paid out by agreed schedules.

There is a lack of responsible team in energy sector, which could make reforms. Government tries to preserve schemes of monopolistic nature, which are not applicable for new realities on the market. It is not enough to raise tariffs for population, without reforms they will be spent as it was the case in recent period.
