Warsaw - Poland, Ukraine, Bosnia, the United States, Israel, but also Australia and the antipodes are the theaters of the world struggle between the Good and the Evil which is nowadays occurring according to the book by Jan Pieklo "The smell of angel", an outstanding tale, with a surprising end, based on issues of the recent world history.

 In his "The smell of angel", Mr. Pieklo -along with his personal experience as the Director of PAUCI, a Polish-American-Ukrainian organization committed to the dialogue between Poland and Ukraine and, previously, a foreign correspondent during the Yugoslavia war- clearly takes inspiration from important sources, such as the Holy Bible, the Gospel according to St. John, the Koran, the Confessions by Saint Augustine of Hippo, tales on the life of Angels, military and political reports regarding the recruitment of terrorists by Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations worldwide.

 The main character of "The smell of angel" is Jan Lerski, a Polish human right activist who moves to Bosnia during the Yugoslavia war. In Sarajevo, where he finds and eventually looses again his beloved Julia Beszter, an Australian journalist of Polish descent, Lerski becomes one of the most prominent members of the Circle of the Good, an organization of extraordinary individuals and archangels committed to protect the world against the Evil.

 Lerski, an alter-ego of the author, serves as one of the main coordinators of the Circle of the Good wherever the Good is fighting against the Evil, such as the worldwide war on the Al Qaeda terrorism network and the Orange Revolution in Ukraine.

 Along with Lerski and Julia, other main characters of "The smell of angel" are the Muslim Bosnian Jasmina and Jasira, a young girl who becomes a member, and indeed a victim, of the Al Alaqsa terrorist network.

 Belinda Kostiusko, an Australian girl of Polish and Aboriginal descent who gets the whole memory of Julia once she dies, and the three archangels Gabriel, Michael and Raphael are mystical elements that help Lerski understand the necessity to commit himself to the struggle to the forces of Evil.

 Quite soon, the mission of Lerski demonstrates itself to be harder than it seemed to be as, slowly but definitely, the forces of Evil overwhelm the Circle of Good by utilizing religious extremism, terrorism, dictatorships, and even nuclear weapons, against NATO and the western civilization.

A book worth to read

 In his "The smell of angel", Mr. Pieklo describes the world how it really is: a planet deeply divided into Good and Evil, Light and Darkness, Archangels and dark angels, God and devil, in which each individual must choose whether to support the Good or the Evil. This two opposite forces, as Mr. Pieklo notices, always struggled each other during the history of humanity, and are still struggling nowadays as well.

 Therefore, by reading the book of Mr. Pieklo, readers have a unique opportunity to understand both the existence within the world of today of a global war between the Good and the Evil, and the necessity to commit to this war at the side of the Good -that's to say the modern civilizations, such as the western one- in order not to allow extremists, terrorists and dictatorships to gain control on the world of the XXI century.

 Although it is available in Polish and Ukrainian version only, "The smell of angel" will be also translated into English, German and eventually Italian.
