The Night of Energy in Kyiv - feedbacks of a participant

At night from 01.07 to 02.07 the conference “The Night of Energy” was hold in Kyiv. Organizer of this event was a team of Ukrenergo Laboratories. As the main thesis of this event we can consider words of V.Syromyatova “Good Jobs – Green Jobs”, because this event was dedicated to “Green Energy” and engagement of young professionals and students. E.Rubin, the head of the “Ukrenergo Laboratories” project, noticed that “The present event – is a very good example from Ukrenergo how to work with a young experts.” Similar events were already conducted in such cities as Kharkiv (on April 22)  and Lviv ( on June 10) 2017.

The team of Ukrenergo determined three fundamental ways of the project:

-              Creativity for energy (engaging into Power engineering new interesting ideas and the newest developments)

-              Universities for energy (creating or improving educational system in universities, academies and etc.)

-              Development for Energy (improving the physical conditions and modernizing different extraction systems of traditional Energy and implementation systems of alternative energy)

In general, they divide the program of the event into five “blocks”. The first “block” contained motivation lectures, which “charged up” all listeners with positive mood and configured on the wave of “brainstorming”. This block was opened by the head of Ukrenergo, V.Kovalchuk. He said, that “the main work of the project will start not today, but when stimulus for work of young professionals will be created.”

By his opinion, there are four main constituents of success: the place, the time, the planes and the education.

The second block was opened by deputy of Ukraine’s parliament, O.Ryabchin. His report helps to understand the main disadvantages of new energy policy of the USA, and about it’s possible consequences. Also he noted about importance of “Green Policy”: “Eco-socialism is determinative vector of society’s moving”.

The most interesting and useful, on my point of view, among the lectures of the third block was the lecture of the head of DTEK Wind Power V.Syromyatova. She told us, how young specialist can build his own carrier in alternative energy. Also she noted, that alternative energy is on grow, and investments into new technologies reach 9 billion US dollars.

The block of practical lections was opened by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, S.Korsunskiy. He told us about the main problems of foreign energy policy in our country.

In the same block by T.Boiko, delegate of Civil Network “Opora”, was “shred light” on term of Energy efficiency in houses of our country and told us about brilliant examples of successful projects.

In fifth block of lectures reported O.Diachuk – delegate of Institute for Economics and Forecasting of Ukraine. He spoke about forecast of energy sector development in Ukraine starting from 2015 up to 2050. According this forecast, alternative sources of energy almost completely will replace traditional sources of energy, their part in the entire energy mix will not exceed more that 4%.

A lot of thinks was told about the role of young qualified professionals. N.Boiko, Deputy Minister on Euro integration of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, spoke on this topic: “Only youth can solve non-standard problems, because young people do not ask questions  “Why not?” Instead, they have questions “How to do it?”

Then, T.Mylovanov, Honorary President of Kyiv school of Economics, pointed out four main, in his opinion, abilities of a successful worker:  emotional intelligence, ability to manage projects, adaptability, ability to think critically. In addition, this list was expanded by the HR-director of Ukrenergo S.Nikolaenko:  ability to search for information, ability to work in a team, client orientation.

The event was summed up by M. Bno-Airiian, director for communication and international cooperation of Ukrenergo with a report about the importance of communications and their role in energy sector development.

The event turned out to be really interesting and productive, full of new ideas and suggestions.
