The Normandy Format won't succeed

Milan - Matteo Cazzulani, a associated expert of the Centre for Global Studies "Strategy XXI" highlighted the agreement on the realization of the Nordstream II pipeline as a challenge to the security of both the European Union and the Trans Atlantic Community.

Cazzulani, during an international conference held on Friday, 9/11 at the seat of Lombardy Regional Council in Milan, Italy, also described the Normandy Format, a group of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France which holds peace talks on the Ukrainian crisis, as less efficient that the Geneva Format, which is made of Ukraine, Russia, the United States and Poland on behalf of Central Eastern Europe.

"Germany and France use to consider their relationship with Ukraine as a means to strengthen ties with Russia. Therefore, the Normandy Format is not the right solution to find a peaceful solution to the conflict. The European Union should be committed to the enlargement of the peace talks to the member states of NATO of Central Eastern Europe, which consider Russia warfare in Georgia and Ukraine as a direct threat to their national security" Mr. Cazzulani said.

Italian MP Eleonora Cimbro and essayist and former MP Enrico Farinone also attended the event.
