Warsaw - Maybe it is too late, but finally the Obama Administration recognized Russia to be a global threat to the security of both the United States and Europe. According to the newest version of the National Military Strategy, a document the Pentagon released on July 2, Russia, North Korea, Iran and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant -ISIL- are aggressive threats to global peace the United States must face over the next years.
While presenting the document, the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey openly mentioned the existence of an increasing global disorder made of "hybrid conflicts", as the ISIL warfare in Syria and Northern Africa and the one of Russia in Ukraine.
With respect to China, the National Military Strategy underlines the necessity for the Obama Administration to encourage the rise of the Chinese power as a potential partner of the United States for global security.
Moreover, after warning that the military advantage of the United States is beginning to erode, the document the Pentagon released also urges the Presidential Administration to push on partnerships in order to maintain the delicate security balance worldwide.
The newest version of the National Military Strategy is deeply tied to the new orientation on foreign issues the Pentagon assumed after the appointment of Ash Carter as US Defense Secretary.
Since the first confirmation hearing at the US Senate, Carter, a democrat as well as US President Barack Obama, has always urged the Presidential Administration to send weapons to Ukraine in order both to allow the Ukrainian army to face a better-equipped Russian army and to ensure NATO member states of Central a Eastern Europe about the staunch commitment of the United States to their security.
By calling Russia one of the major threats to global security and peace, the National Military Strategy represents a step forward the Obama Administration finally did after having been considering Russia to be, in vain, a potential partner on global issues since President Obama came to power in 2009.
However, by calling for a partnership with China and urging the United States to push on partnerships in order to ensure global peace and security, the document the Pentagon released shows the Obama Administration to be further intentioned to resign from leading the United States as a Global Superpower, a role the United States gained after defeating imperialism, nazism and communism in World War One, World War Two and the Cold War.
A call for a greater commitment of the United States to ensure democracy, liberty, prosperity and peace in Europe has been done by the front-runner within the Republican Primaries Jeb Bush, a former Florida Governor.
Jeb Bush underlined that the perception of the retreat of the United States from the global stage in the recent years had emboldened Russian President Vladimir Putin to strengthen Russia warfare in Georgia, Ukraine and Central Eastern Europe.
After he personally met European leaders such as Polish President Elect Andrzej Duda -a young conservative who already said him to share the same vision of Jeb Bush on global issues- and Polish acting President Bronislaw Komorowski -who de facto supported the soft policy toward Russia of the Obama Administration- prior to launch his presidential bid, Jeb Bush said the United States should make NATO presence in Central Eastern Europe more robust.
Poland and Rumania the next military targets of Russia
The necessity for a more robust NATO presence in Central Eastern Europe and a greater commitment of the United States to the security of Europe was confirmed after the Russian Government said Poland and Rumania to be the next targets of Russian warfare in Central Eastern Europe.
According to the Vice Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lukianov, Russia will orientate ballistic missiles against Poland and Rumania whether, as planed, this two member states of both NATO and the European Union will host the elements of the NATO Antimissile Defense System within their national territory.
The blackmailing of Russia towards Poland and Rumania does not have any fundament, as the Antimissile Defense System consists in the deployment in Central Eastern Europe of rotational batteries of SM-3: ballistic interceptors which do not have any offensive capacity.
The NATO Antimissile Defense System was conceived by the Obama democratic Administration as a softer version of the previous Spatial Shield: a more courageous project planed by the George W Bush republican Administration.
The original Spatial Shield was consisted in a radar station in Czech Republic and the stable deployment in Poland of batteries of Patriot missiles: ballistic interceptors who can destroy any ballistic threat to Europe launched from Iran, Iraq or Russia.
