Consumers’ Behavior is Crucial to Energy Transition

 

On September 26, 2019 in Brussels, the ENABLE.EU project team held the Final Conference Enabling the Energy Transition – What Drives Energy Choices in Europe?”. The key outcomes of the project, including those prepared by the Centre for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”, were presented and ways of their practical realization were discussed at the event.

 

Expert of the project Vitalii Martyniuk, Executive Director of the Centre for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”, presented drivers, which influenced behaviour of the Ukrainian consumers of energy resources in making energy saving measures and using energy efficiency technologies (link). The key ones were named: willingness to save money; stimulation to self-governing of multi-flat buildings; autonomy in heating; quality of heating networks and provided services; availability and prices for new energy saving technologies; investment opportunities. Participants of the discussion paid the primary attention to possibilities of using alternative types of energy resources in heating.  

In addition, Andrii Zinchenko, co-founder of the Greencubator, presented key factors of development of renewable energy in Ukraine, including solar energy.
