Now in Akhmetov's hands more than 70% of thermal generation, - commented Mykhailo Gonchar, for NovaKahovka.City. - He wants to achieve the same position in the power distridution industry. If this succeeds, he will control the lion's share of assets.  Akhmetov likes to create monopolies. As for me, his appetites should be limited by the Antimonopoly Committee."

In the opinion of Mykhailo Gonchar, there is no danger for final consumers. According to the Third Energy Package of the European Union, DTEK should provide free access to the distribution grid for anyone who wants to buy electricity for end users - industrial or domestic.

"But it looks good only on paper," the expert continues. "Indeed, it will be a different one. A lot of independent energy traders, which will formally book energy distribution quotas for the oblenergos, would be created. So, they would not allow others to enter the market. Oblenergos of Akhmetov will try to block access to the final consumer for Energoatom, the largest electricity producer. The electricity market should operate from July 1, 2019 , according to the earlier law. The situation on electricity market would be similar to the situation on the gas market. Controlling more than 70% of regional gas companies, Dmitry Firtash's structures do not allow to Naftogaz of Ukraine access the final consumer. That is, Akhmetov wants to repeat the trick of Firtash: to take control of the majority of oblenergos and block direct access for Energoatom and other traders to consumers, and then offer them access conditions in order to make Energoatom to sale energy to  Akhmetov traders at expense. In this way, he wants to continue parasitizing at atomic generation. This will affect the end users as well. With the introduction of the electricity market, prices would have to decrease over the next few years. So, Akhmetov will have the opportunity to play with prices.
