'Gas choking': how to stop the Nord Stream?

Despite the armed conflict, the Ukrainian energy system is still dependent on Russia. While the EU countries are acting in their own interests, Russia continues to work on gas pipeline projects. What danger have the Russian energy projects Nord Stream, Nord Stream-2, South Stream for Ukraine? Is it possible to exchange Ukraine's interests for cheap gas by Europe? And where did Moscow get money for such large-scale projects - against the backdrop of anti-Russian sanctions? This was explained on the air of Radio Donbass.Realii by the executive director of the Centre for Global Studies "Strategy XXI" Andrii Chubyk.

- Andrii, why are these projects dangerous? I understand that for Ukraine, first of all, the threat is represented by the project Nord Stream-2?

- We must start from the premise that any gas transport route that does not pass through the territory of Ukraine is a challenge for our economy, for Naftogaz of Ukraine and even for the future independent operator of Ukraine's gas transportation system.

Any such project can potentially deprive a part of transit flows and financial resources. Plus, having the opportunity to redirect gas flows to other countries, Moscow unties its hands for any further action, to continue and expand aggression against Ukraine. And not having a transit potential, Ukraine will be out of the EU interests.
