United States and Russia: dialogue or war?

The war between Russia and the United States cannot be in principle. Because if, God forbid, a full-scale clash between the United States and Russia with the use of nuclear weapons happens, it is clear that such a clash will cause a world disaster. That is, in my opinion, it is simply impossible. Even in the worst times of the Cold War confrontation between the Soviet Union and the United States, there were actually no direct fights except local conflicts - the expert of the Centre for Global Studies “Strategy XXI” Vitalii Martyniuk wrote about it in his blog on the website "Obozrevatel".

However, Putin actually stresses (in an interview with the American filmmaker Oliver Stone – ed.) that there will be no losers. Why does he appeal to such possible consequences? Putin is now under a very powerful international pressure, he himself feels it and he wants to reiterate that Russia has nuclear weapons, it still cannot be ignored.

Despite the fact that there are some signs of attempts to revive a dialogue with the Russian Federation, in my opinion, this does not mean that US-Russian relations will improve. The West in general - the NATO, the United States, and the EU - wants to show that it is ready for dialogue with the Russian Federation in resolving various international issues.

At the same time it is unlikely that the United States will make significant concessions if it doesn't match their interests.

Everything will depend on the situation here. For example, the United States can make some concessions on settlement of the conflict in Syria. That is, they are ready to coordinate with Russia their actions in the Middle East, despite the fact that recent Russian steps were aimed at putting on itself all the processes of settlement, as evidenced by Russian close cooperation with Iran and Turkey.

Are the United States ready to make concessions on Ukraine? The United States can discuss some issues, but not the issue of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. They are uncompromising, as concessions concerning the territorial integrity and sovereignty will mean the violation of international law that could have a domino effect and unpredictable consequences at the international level.
