Decision to declare a state of emergency in the energy sector has political background — Mykhailo Gonchar

At an extraordinary government meeting on Wednesday, February 15, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the decision on introduction of state of emergency in the energy sector. According to the President of the Centre for Global Studies "Strategy XXI" Mykhailo Gonchar, there is no tragic in such decision of the government. He told this to "Hromadske Radio"

“Most likely, the document will provide more authority to the Dispatcher of the Integrated Power System to disconnect certain consumers in case of problematic situations,” he said.

Mykhailo Gonchar sees no need for such a solution. “It is dictated more by political reasons. The government has driven itself into this trap, caused the situation that boosted activity of blockers, and now is trying to put all the blame on them. The situation would not exist if the government worked on the issue of coal supply in the same way as in the case of gas,” Mykhailo Gonchar said.

The Order on introduction of the state of emergency was published later.
