The largest donor of Ukraine

Since 1991, when Ukraine regained its independence, the scope of assistance from only the European Community have amounted to 3.5 billion euros [1]. In recent years, the amount of EU financial assistance has increased, especially after the signing of the Association Agreement, which has already been ratified and will officially enter into force on September 1 of this year.

The EU's financial assistance is aimed at supporting reforms and European integration of Ukraine, in particular the constitutional reform, the opening of the European market for Ukrainian goods, the reform of the judicial system and public service, liberalization of the visa regime, and is allocated, in accordance with the Association Agenda, through the mechanism of the European Neighborhood Instrument (ENI). The Association Agenda says that Ukraine's support is provided through the use of all available EU assistance resources, as well as through the exchange of experience and advices, dissemination of best practices and know-how, dissemination of information, support for development of capabilities and institutional strengthening [2].
